Large Country Garden
The clients designed their new house with future-proofing in mind, in order to work as their forever home the garden needed wide paths for wheelchair use and gentle level changes.
Porcelain was chosen for low-maintenance paving, mixed with a dark grey Belgian clay paver. A bespoke mix of granite setts pave the entrance area, complemented by a stacked slate water feature.
Lush planting, cared for weekly by their gardener, softens the space and adds year-round colour and interest.
The design comprised a large dining terrace, pathways around the house, a gravelled working area with a greenhouse and large shed, a rose garden and various seating areas as focal points from which to enjoy different views of the garden.
A grid of multi-stem trees underplanted with wildflower turf provide shelter and nectar for insects.
The driveway was planted up with wildflower turf plus a good mix of evergreen and deciduous trees and flowering shrubs to extend the season while providing a low maintenance solution.
