The brief was to transform this previously drab, boring and unloved central area of a large comprehensive school, to introduce insect and bird-friendly planting and to make this neglected area into an oasis where children and teachers alike could find a bit of calm, eat lunch, take lessons outside or just relax. We liaised with teachers, pupils and the PTA on what they felt was required.
The planting needed to be very low-maintenance as it would mainly be tended by a volunteer group of parents.
The school is thrilled with the result and now find the area useful for hosting various events.
